Galang AI Recognized as an InVAluable Employer Partner for Investing in Virginia’s Next Generation of Talent
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s InternshipsVA program recognized Galang AI for its high-quality, paid internship program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to opening meaningful pathways from education into applied AI work for Virginia students and recent graduates.

Galang AI, based in Aldie, Virginia, has been recognized as a 2026 InVAluable Employer Partner by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership through its InternshipsVA program. The designation recognizes Galang AI’s commitment to providing high-quality, paid internship experiences that help Virginia students and recent graduates move from classroom learning into meaningful, applied professional work.
InternshipsVA developed the InVAluable Employer Partner designation to recognize Virginia employers that create high-quality, paid internship programs. Galang AI completed the program’s employer training and earned a 50 out of 50 assessment across areas including meaningful work, compensation, onboarding, learning objectives, supervision, mentorship, networking, performance feedback, and ongoing engagement with students.
For Galang AI, the recognition is not the end goal. It is a standard the company intends to keep building on as it develops new pathways for the next generation entering the workforce. The focus is on giving students real responsibility, practical AI experience, direct access to experienced leaders, and work they can carry forward into interviews, portfolios, and future roles.
“Students and recent graduates deserve more than a line on a résumé. They deserve real work, real mentorship, and a credible path into the workforce. Before Galang AI, I led internship cohorts that helped dozens of interns become full-time employees, with several later becoming managers and leaders. Their curiosity and ability to adapt to new technologies are exactly what organizations need in this AI era. We want to keep building that kind of opportunity here, opening doors for Virginia students and helping them grow into the people who will lead what comes next.”
James Galang, Co-Founder of Galang AI
That commitment builds on co-founder James Galang’s more than a decade of experience leading annual internship cohorts of roughly 20 to 30 students before starting Galang AI. Dozens of those interns moved into full-time employment, and several later advanced into management and leadership roles. The experience shaped Galang AI’s belief that internships can become durable workforce pipelines when employers combine trust, structure, mentorship, and meaningful work.
Early-career professionals also bring qualities that are especially valuable as artificial intelligence changes how organizations operate. Students and recent graduates often approach emerging technology with curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to experiment. Galang AI wants to channel that energy responsibly, helping participants learn not only how to use AI tools, but how to research, communicate, validate results, exercise judgment, and understand the human and organizational context around a technical system.
Galang AI’s internship model is built around paid, project-based work with defined deliverables and real business relevance. Participants receive structured onboarding, a dedicated mentor, direct access to company leadership, open office hours, recurring feedback, and opportunities to present their work. Projects are designed so students leave with concrete artifacts and stronger evidence of what they can do, rather than only observing work from the sidelines.
The company recently applied that model through a six-week University of Virginia AI4VA Career Academy project delivered on Riipen. Students worked on an AI-driven organizational strategy initiative involving research, prioritization, implementation recommendations, and a final presentation. Galang AI incorporated their work into its operations, received public participant feedback of 5 out of 5, and extended a full-time opportunity to one participant whose strengths aligned with the company’s needs.
As Galang AI grows, it plans to open additional opportunities for students across Virginia and to continue collaborating with colleges, universities, career academies, and workforce-development programs. The company is particularly interested in students from a range of academic backgrounds, not only computer science, because successful AI work increasingly requires communication, research, operations, policy, design, analysis, and domain expertise alongside technical skill.
An internship cannot guarantee a job, but it can make the next step more attainable. Galang AI’s goal is to create a fair, credible bridge into the AI economy: one where students can test their abilities on meaningful work, receive honest feedback, build professional relationships, and see a clearer path from education into employment and leadership.
The InVAluable Employer Partner designation applies specifically to Galang AI’s internship-program practices and does not imply that VEDP endorses every Galang AI product or service.
