Galang AI Launches Down To A Science, a Podcast with Kevin G. Libuit
Big ideas. Broken down. A new home for candid conversations across science, technology, and business.

Galang AI is launching Down To A Science, a new podcast with Kevin G. Libuit about the people, questions, and experiences behind work that shapes our world.
The show starts with curiosity: why someone cares about a problem, how they put ideas into practice, and what others can learn from their experience. It brings together practitioners across science, technology, and business for candid conversations with room for technical depth, an unexpected connection, and a good tangent.
This launch is a new chapter in Galang AI’s commitment to build in public. When the company announced Libuit’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer, it also committed to sharing what it is building and learning, including the hard parts. Down To A Science invites people into that learning through conversations with practitioners whose experience can challenge assumptions and open new lines of inquiry.
Libuit is a scientist and Galang AI’s COO, with more than a decade of experience across genomics, public health, technology, and operations. He previously served as Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer at Theiagen Genomics and as a Lead Scientist for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He brings that practitioner’s perspective to the show without limiting the conversation to a single field.
The first episode, Episode 1: Pathogen Genomics, AI, and Biosecurity with David Aanensen, is available now. Kevin and David explore how scientific data becomes something people can understand and use, from the design of analytical tools to infectious disease surveillance, data sovereignty, and the role of AI.
One unexpected connection begins with car websites. Aanensen recalls working at a creative agency in London on projects for Alfa Romeo and Fiat before returning to science. That experience helped shape how he thinks about scientific software: design matters because it changes how people explore complex information and put it to work.
The conversation also considers where AI could help coordinate established analytical tools without replacing the scientific methods people rely on. It is an immediate reason to listen, and an example of the broader questions the show will follow about work, capability, and the paths that bring people to a problem.
Down To A Science is an invitation to join in, not just listen from the sidelines. Watch the first conversation, leave a question in the YouTube comments, and help point Kevin toward people whose work deserves a closer look.
Who is doing work more people should understand, and what should Kevin ask them?
