Galang AI Appoints Kevin G. Libuit as Chief Operating Officer
Kevin brings more than a decade of experience in genomics, advanced technology, public health, and business operations as Galang AI expands its mission of zero-friction AI implementation across life sciences.

Libuit has joined Galang AI as Chief Operating Officer. Based in Camas, Washington, he will oversee company operations, strengthen service delivery, support business development, and help build the systems behind Galang AI’s next stage of growth.
He joins CEO and Co-Founder Ara Galang and President and Co-Founder James Galang as the company enters its second year. Galang AI’s leadership shares a foundation in health or biology alongside hands-on AI and operating experience. That combination gives the company a clear direction: use AI to solve problems that matter and help advance the human endeavor.
A scientist by training, Libuit has a proven record of bridging the gap between cutting-edge innovation and operational implementation. His experience includes serving as Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer at Theiagen Genomics and as a Lead Scientist for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In these roles, Kevin has turned advanced scientific and technical capabilities into practical services, workflows, and organizational decisions for companies and government organizations around the world.
“Kevin is the kind of leader who changes what a company is capable of. He has the scientific credibility of a published researcher, the operating experience of a Vice President of Operations and CTO, and the judgment to turn advanced technology into work people can trust. We have known each other since childhood, and now we get to build something with a real purpose: applying AI where it can move science, public health, and the human endeavor forward.”
James Galang, President and Co-Founder of Galang AI
Libuit earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014 and a Master of Science in Biology in 2016 from James Madison University. He now serves on the Executive Advisory Council for JMU’s College of Science and Mathematics. His research background includes antibiotic resistance, microbial genomics, pathogen genomics, sequencing, and bioinformatics, with published work represented in Environmental Science & Technology, Microbial Genomics, and PLOS ONE.
The appointment is about more than adding another executive. Galang AI believes this AI wave should not be defined only by faster content, thinner products, and louder claims. The company wants to do work people can point to: help scientists, public health leaders, and complex organizations use AI to discover more, operate better, and move important work forward.
For Galang AI, life sciences is intentionally broader than biotechnology. The focus includes public health laboratories, genomics organizations, research teams, diagnostics, scientific associations, health agencies, and other groups responsible for turning complex evidence into decisions and services. The company will apply AI where it can reduce friction and increase capability without weakening scientific rigor, security, privacy, or public trust.
Galang AI is also choosing to build this work in public. The team will share what it is building, what it is learning, where it succeeds, and where the hard parts remain. Transparency and honesty are not campaign themes for the company. They are operating principles intended to show what a real AI-native organization can accomplish when it is built with purpose.
The appointment is personal as well. Libuit and James Galang have known each other since childhood and reconnected as their careers converged around public service, science, technology, and applied AI. They are now building together with a mission they hope clients, partners, scientists, and the broader community will follow, challenge, and help move forward.
